When we face a criminal on a dark street, we are bold as a lion because of who we are and the job we are called to
do. We are peace officers and we don't back down when confronted with adversity, or even criticism. Let those who
don't respect authority say what they will, and let the media print what they will, but we will still do our job
unashamedly. This mind-set enables us to perform our job in an ever changing culture, but do we have the same
mind-set when it comes to our faith? Ouch!! In case you haven't noticed, Christianity is getting less and less popular,
or even tolerable. God's Word is being attacked more than ever and twisted to fit what people want it to say. God
warned us that this would happen before He comes back, but it doesn't give us the right to bury our heads in the
sand or back down from what we believe.

If you study today's verse you will discover that Jesus is referring to those who reject Him as Savior. When He
speaks of being ashamed of the person who is ashamed of Him, He is actually speaking of judgment. This is a person
who chose not to be identified with Christ in a world that has turned its back on Him, and as a result He will reject
them when He returns.

Those who have received Him as Savior will not fall into that category, but the principle needs to be applied
regardless. While we don't need to come across as some "holier than thou" person, we still need to stand unashamed
for our Lord, even when it's not popular. We talked about Peter previously and how he denied the Lord when everyone
had turned against Him. He later realized what he had done and the Bible says that he "wept bitterly" because of it.
If Peter caved to the pressure of sitting down when he should have stood, then we can also expect to struggle with
the same pressure. Jesus had compassion on Peter for his failure, and He has the same compassion on us, but He also
provides us with what we need to overcome that pressure. We serve the King of kings, and the Lord of lords, and we
have NOTHING to be ashamed of, let's remember that when those situations arise that require us to take a stand.
